Recently, the National Textbook Committee issued the first national textbook construction award decision. The textbook Medical Microbiology (9th edition), edited by Professor Li Fan, won the first prize (in the higher education category), the textbook Histochemistry and Cytochemical Techniques (2nd edition), with Professor Zhou Li as the second editor, and the textbook Pathology (1st edition), edited by Professor Li Yilei, won the second prize (in the higher education category).

The National Textbook Construction Award was established by the National Textbook Committee and the Ministry of Education in December 2019. An evaluation is organized every four years. It aims to commend outstanding teams and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to textbook compilation at all levels. The selection of the first National Textbook Construction Award was launched in 2020. It is the first time since the founding of the People's Republic of China that a special award program covering all fields of textbooks has been established, and it is also the highest award in the field of textbooks in China. It is an important mechanism for reviewing and displaying the role of textbook construction in personnel training for the Communist Party of China and the nation, and promoting the construction of a world-class textbook system with Chinese characteristics.

The College of Basic Medical Sciences undertakes the teaching task of 59 theoretical courses and 45 experimental courses for all 18 undergraduate majors (directions) in the School of Public Health, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Nursing, and affiliated hospitals of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Jilin University. Its workload is the heaviest in the Faculty. The college attaches great importance to the construction of a series of high-quality textbooks with unique characteristics, and actively supports the teachers of the college to participate in the compilation of state-level textbooks. Teachers of the college are the chief editors of 9, deputy chief editors of 2, and co-editors of 17 national textbooks for undergraduate higher education during the 11th and 12th Five-Year plan periods. They are also chief editors of 4 textbooks, deputy chief editors of 2 textbooks and editors of 12 textbooks for the 12th Five-Year Plan and 13th Five-year Plan of the National Health Commission. The college will take this opportunity to fully mobilize the enthusiasm of all teachers in the field of textbook construction, drive the overall improvement of basic medical textbook construction, and look forward to further achievements of teachers in the college.
