We started the teaching of biochemistry in 1949 and formally established the Department of Biochemistry in 1959. In 1978, the Department was authorized to confer master's degree, and in 1986 to confer doctor's degree. In 1991, it was approved as a post-doctoral mobile station. In 1995 the biochemistry was approved as a key discipline in Jilin Province. In 2006, the Department was transformed into a modern open laboratory of more than 250 square meters. Currently, we have 14 teachers, including 3 professors, 4 associate professors, 7 lecturers. We also have 2 master’s supervisors and 6 postgraduate students.

The Department mainly undertakes the teaching of biochemistry theory and biochemistry experiments. We teach majors including the clinical medicine (5+3), 5-year clinical medicine, stomatology, radiation medicine, preventive medicine, information management, nursing and rehabilitation, pharmacy and other medical majors. We also teach Korean students and MBBS. The annual amount of teaching work could reach over 3180 planned class hours. We participated in the compilation of the first edition of the biochemistry textbook for 8-year program students published by People's Medical Publishing House, the first and the second edition of biochemistry textbooks published by Higher Education Press. We also edited one biochemistry CAI courseware of Ministry of Health and 3 online course materials.
